Hastelloy X is one of the most widely used nickel base superalloys for gas turbine engine components. This solid solution strengthened grade has good strength. Alloy X has excellent resistance to reducing and carburizing atmospheres, making it suitable for furnace components. The alloy's oxidation resistance is outstanding up to 2200º F. For hot forming, the alloy should be heated to a starting temperature of 2150°F (1175°C). Inconel HX® can be welded by metal arc, gas-tungsten- arc, gas-metal-arc, and submerged arc processes.
